Clamp-on beam end stops for hoist and crane trolleys – sold in pairs
Stop a trolley before it runs off the beam. Bison Lifting universal end stops clamp directly onto the flange of a crane or hoist runway beam – W-beams, I-beams and S-beams up to 21.65″ wide – with no drilling and no welding. Each pair bolts on in minutes, gives a trolley or hoist a rubber-buffered stop at both ends of its travel, and meets OSHA 1910.179 and CMAA Specification 70 (section 4.15) requirements for crane and trolley travel limitation. Galvanized steel, fully adjustable, and every nut, washer and buffer is in the box.

Which model fits your beam?
Measure the width of the beam flange (the bottom lip the trolley wheels ride on) and its thickness, then pick the row that covers it. Three of the four fit W-beams and I-beams; the TESH18-25 is made for the tapered flange of an S-beam.

What is in the box
Each set covers one beam at both ends: 4 clip plates, 2 threaded rods, 4 buffer blocks, 8 aluminum stops, 8 nuts, 8 flat washers, 4 spring washers and a wrench. Nothing else to buy.
Installation – six steps, no drilling
- Fit two nuts and two flat washers to the middle of the threaded rod.
- Hold the two clip plates against the beam flange and pass the rod through both.
- Slide two aluminum stops onto each end of the rod, facing the direction shown in the instructions.
- Lock the stops with the nut, flat washer and spring washer sets.
- Run the two middle nuts out against the inside of the clip plates and tighten – the plates now clamp the flange.
- Bolt the buffer block to the clip plate in whichever of the four positions puts it in line with your trolley.
The buffer block mounts in three configurations at two heights, which is what lets one end stop suit hoists and trolleys from different manufacturers. Repeat at the other end of the beam.

Frequently asked questions
What does a beam end stop do?
It gives a hoist trolley a physical stop at the end of the runway beam so the trolley cannot travel off the end. The clip plates clamp the beam flange and the rubber buffer block takes the impact. OSHA 1910.179 requires trolley travel to be limited on overhead cranes, and CMAA Specification 70 section 4.15 describes the bumpers; these end stops are how most monorails and bridge cranes meet that.
Which model do I need?
Measure the beam flange width and thickness. Flanges up to 11.81 in. wide and 0.87 in. thick take the TESH20-36; up to 21.65 in. wide take the TESH20-63; heavy flanges up to 1.18 in. thick take the TESH30-63. If your beam is an S-beam with a tapered flange of 3.2 to 6.3 in., use the TESH18-25.
Will it fit an S-beam?
The TESH18-25 is made for S-beams, whose flanges taper toward the edge. The other three models are for the flat flanges of W-beams and I-beams.
Do I have to drill or weld the beam?
No. The two clip plates clamp the flange from both sides with a threaded rod, so the stops go on with the included wrench and come off the same way. That also means they can be moved if the runway is reconfigured.
Is one set enough for one beam?
Yes. A set is a pair – one stop for each end of the beam – with all fasteners and buffers for both. Order one set per runway beam.
Will the buffer line up with my trolley?
The buffer block bolts to the clip plate in three configurations at two different heights, so it can be set to meet the trolley frame of most hoist and trolley brands. If you are unsure, send us the trolley model and beam size and we will confirm.
