Product Overview

Pallet rack wire decking (also called wire mesh decking) provides secure, open-grid shelving for pallet rack systems. It drops into place in seconds to create a stable surface for pallets or other items. We offer two styles: Step Channel decks that sit flush in step beams for a heavy-duty, integrated fit, and Flared (Universal) decks with flared ends that rest on top of beams (ideal for structural or box beams without a step, and compatible with standard step beams). Both styles feature rugged welded wire mesh with waterfall edges that wrap over the beam for quick, tool-free installation and enhanced safety.

Features and Specifications (all deck types)

• Waterfall design: 1.5 in. front/rear waterfall edge wraps over the beam flange, helping lock the deck in place with no fasteners.
• Open mesh for fire safety: Open grid mesh allows water from overhead sprinklers to pass through to lower levels. It also improves airflow and visibility, lets light filter down, and reduces dust buildup on shelves.
• Heavy-duty construction: Welded steel wire (typically 6-gauge) in a 2.5 in. × 4 in. grid, supported by cold-formed steel channels (usually 14- or 16-gauge). Standard decks have 3 support channels; larger or higher-capacity decks use 4 channels for extra strength.
• High load capacities: Per-deck (uniformly distributed load) ratings commonly range from 2,000 to 2,500 lb for standard-duty and up to 3,000 to 3,500 lb for heavy-duty. Always adhere to the rated deck capacity; use additional supports for higher point loads.
• Durable finishes: Tough powder-coat finish resists corrosion; galvanized steel available on request.
• Versatile and safe storage: Store pallets, cartons, bins, or irregular items without fall-through. The deck helps prevent loose products or broken pallet boards from dropping between beams.
• Standards compliant: Manufactured in accordance with ANSI MH26.2 (welded wire rack decking).

How to Order

1. Deck Type: Select Step Channel for racks with step beams (common 1.5 to 1.625 in. ledge on roll-formed beams), or choose Flared (Universal) for structural channel beams or box beams (no step ledge).
2. Depth (front to back): Match deck depth to your rack frame depth (for example, 36, 42, 44, 48, 60 in.).
3. Beam Length (left to right): Determine your beam length and use the guide below to select deck widths. Most levels use two decks (some longer beams use three).
4. Capacity and supports: For standard loads, 3 support channels are typical. For extra-long beams or higher capacity, choose 4-channel (heavy-duty) decks.

Most pallet rack beams use two wire decks per level. Very long beams may use three decks to fully cover the length.
