This one has a flat solid deck over a six-runner base: 2,800 lb in transit, 15,000 lb static, and a 500 lb rack rating. It still nests, and it ships either assembled or flat-packed depending on whether you would rather save the freight or skip the assembly.

What is the difference between the flat-pack and assembled options?
Identical pallet, identical price – the only difference is how it arrives. Flat-packed, the deck and runner base ship separately and 50 pallets fit in one pallet position, so a truckload carries 1,400. Assembled, they arrive ready to use but only 19 stack per position and a truckload carries 570. Flat-pack is roughly two and a half times cheaper to freight; assembled saves you the snap-together time on arrival. On small orders the freight saving is modest, so most buyers take assembled. On volume it is worth doing the assembly yourself.
Why choose a solid deck pallet over an open deck pallet?
A closed deck supports the whole footprint of the load rather than just the ribs. That matters for anything that can sag, slip, or fall through an opening – sacks and bagged goods, small parts, loose cartons, or cases with a small base. It also wipes down properly, which is why solid decks are standard in food and pharmaceutical handling. Open decks are lighter and cheaper, and they let water drain, so they win for palletized cartons where nothing can fall through.
Can this pallet go in pallet racking?
Yes, up to 500 lb. That is a genuine rack rating, which most nestable pallets do not carry at all – but read it literally. Racking is unsupported span, so the pallet is bridging two beams with nothing underneath, and the 15,000 lb static figure does not apply. For loads over 500 lb in a beam, use a rackable pallet rated for the weight, or add wire mesh decking to carry the load instead.
How does a plastic pallet compare to a 48x40 wood pallet?
Plastic costs more up front and wins on everything after that. Consistent dimensions every time, so automated equipment and stretch wrappers do not jam. No nails working loose into product, no splinters, no broken stringers. It will not absorb water, oil, or odor, and it washes clean. For export it is exempt from ISPM-15, so no heat treatment stamp and no customs hold. A wood stringer pallet is usually done after three to five trips; a plastic pallet in closed-loop service runs ten years or more.
Is this pallet food grade?
It is molded from 100% recycled polyethylene and the solid deck washes down, which is why this style is widely used in food and beverage handling. It is suitable for non-contact food use – product in its own sealed packaging sitting on the pallet.
