What does the TreadLok textured deck actually do?
It stops smooth-bottomed loads from sliding. A steel drum on a flat plastic deck has very little friction, and on a forklift that is accelerating, braking, or turning that matters – especially with four drums that can walk apart in transit. The treaded surface raises the friction between drum and deck so the load stays where you put it. It also gives stretch wrap something to bite on at the base.
Should I order assembled or flat-packed?
Same pallet, same price – the difference is freight. Flat-packed, 40 fit in one pallet position and a truckload carries 1,040. Assembled, 18 stack per position and a truckload carries 494, but they arrive ready to use. Flat-pack is worth roughly double the freight efficiency, so it pays on volume; on a small order the saving rarely justifies the assembly time.
How does this compare to the standard 45x45 nestable?
This is the heavier of the two. The nestable is 21 lb, rated 2,000 lb dynamic, and nests 70 to a stack – built to ship cheap. The TreadLok is 36.5 lb, rated 3,000 lb, sits on eight runners, and has the gripping deck. Buy the nestable for one-way shipping and the TreadLok for anything that cycles or carries an unstable load.
Can the TreadLok be used in pallet racking?
No. Eight runners spread load well on a floor, but this pallet carries no rack rating and racking is unsupported span – the pallet bridges two beams with nothing under the middle. The 8,000 lb static number applies on a solid floor only. For beam storage use a rackable pallet rated for your load, or add wire mesh decking.
Is it suitable for food or beverage use?
It is molded from 100% recycled polyethylene and washes down, and the square footprint and textured deck make it common in brewery and beverage handling. That is non-contact food use – product in its own packaging sitting on the pallet. If you need certified direct-food-contact or virgin FDA resin, tell us and we will quote the right specification.
