A full square foot bigger than a GMA pallet, and built to take it. 48 by 48 gives you eight extra inches of depth over a standard 48x40, which is what wide or square loads need to sit inside the footprint instead of overhanging. 5,000 lb dynamic, 20,000 lb static, six full-length runners, 65 lb of structural plastic. Molded in the USA from 100% recycled material.

Frequently Asked Questions
When do I need a 48x48 instead of a 48x40?
When the load is square or too deep for 40 inches. A 48x40 is rectangular, so anything square either overhangs the 40-inch edge or wastes deck on the 48-inch one. Overhang is the real problem: product past the pallet edge gets crushed in racking, snagged in transit, and refused by some carriers. Four 55-gallon drums, wide cartons and square totes all sit comfortably inside a 48-inch square.
Will a 48x48 pallet fit standard racking and trailers?
Check both before ordering. A 48x48 is deeper than a GMA pallet, so in racking it will overhang the beams unless your bay is set for it – and it changes how many pallets fit across a 53-foot trailer. A trailer takes 48x40 pallets two abreast with room to spare; 48x48 is tighter. Measure your rack depth and confirm your loading pattern first.
Is the 48x48 rack rated?
No. The 20,000 lb static rating applies on a solid floor. Racking loads a pallet in bending across an unsupported span, which is a different test, and this model carries no published rack rating in any configuration. For 48x48 racking, fit wire mesh decking sized to the bay so the deck carries the load instead of the pallet.
How many drums fit on a 48x48?
Four 55-gallon drums in a two-by-two arrangement, with more clearance than a 45x45 gives you. Four full drums run roughly 1,800 lb, well inside the 5,000 lb dynamic rating. The extra room matters if drums need banding or if you are handling them with a drum grab that has to get around the rim.
Why is it 65 lb?
Square footprint plus structural construction. It is 20% more deck area than a 48x40, on six full-length runners built for 5,000 lb service. That weight is what delivers a pallet that lasts years rather than trips. If you want the square footprint at lower weight and cost, our 45x45 nestable is 21 lb – but it is a shipping pallet, not a structural one.
