48x40 Five-Runner Plastic Pallet – 30,000 lb Static Capacity
The highest static rating in our 48x40 range, at nine pounds lighter than the rackable model. 30,000 lb sitting on a floor, 5,000 lb on the forks, and a five-runner base with 24 top deck grommets. This is the pallet for block stacking and heavy floor loads where the weight is enormous but nothing ever goes in a rack. Molded in the USA from 100% recycled plastic.

Frequently Asked Questions
It holds 30,000 lb static – why is it not rack rated?
Because those measure completely different things, and this is the single most misunderstood spec in the category. Static capacity is the load on a pallet sitting on a solid floor, where the floor carries the weight and the pallet just has to not crush. Rack capacity is the load a pallet carries bridging two beams with nothing underneath the middle, so the pallet itself has to resist bending across a four-foot span. A pallet can be immensely strong in compression and still sag in a beam. This one is not tested and rated for racking, so we do not sell it as rackable. If your load is going into beams, buy our rack-rated 6-runner instead.
How is this different from the 48x40 rackable pallet?
Different jobs. This one is lighter at 45.5 lb, has a higher static rating at 30,000 lb, and costs a dollar less – it is optimised for weight sitting on a floor. The rackable 6-runner is 54 lb, rated 25,000 lb static, and carries a genuine 1,000 to 3,000 lb rack rating. If nothing goes in a beam, this is the better buy. If anything goes in a beam, buy the rackable one.
What is block stacking and why does static capacity matter for it?
Block stacking is storing loaded pallets directly on top of each other on the warehouse floor rather than in racking. The bottom pallet in a stack carries every pallet above it, which is where a 30,000 lb static rating earns its money. It is the cheapest way to store high-volume uniform product because you are not paying for racking at all.
Do the steel rods help if it is not rackable?
They stiffen the pallet and reduce deflection under heavy load, which helps in handling and on conveyors. They do not turn it into a rackable pallet – that requires a tested and published rack rating, which this model does not carry in any configuration. Do not use rods as a substitute for buying the rack-rated pallet.
Will it work with automated equipment?
Yes. Injection molded pallets hold their dimensions, so stretch wrappers, conveyors and automated storage equipment handle them consistently. That is a real advantage over wood, where variation between pallets is the usual cause of jams and misfeeds.
