The anchor point of a warehouse guard rail run. These heavy-duty steel guardrail posts bolt to the floor and carry the rails of a modular safety barrier. The 18 in post takes one rail, the 42 in post takes two. Every post is punched on all four sides, so one post can start a run, extend it, or turn a corner, and the rails bolt on with no drilling or welding. The system is rated at 12,000 lb at 4 mph.

Which post do you need
Pick the post by how many rails you want to run. The 18 in post carries a single rail at knee height for walkways, machinery and storage zones. The 42 in post carries two rails for dock doors, in-plant offices, inventory protection zones and anywhere forklifts travel. Rails are sold with the posts as starter and add-on kits on our steel guard rail system kits page; buy posts on their own here when you need extra corners, replacements, or a longer run.

Rails and the rail-to-post bolts ship with the rails. Posts are stocked and ship in a few days.
Installation
- Set the post square to the run and mark the four footplate holes.
- Drill the concrete for ¾ in wedge anchors and set the anchors.
- Bolt the rails to the post faces you are using and plug the unused holes with the button plugs.
- Rail lengths are measured on post centers, so space posts at the rail length you ordered.

Frequently asked questions
Are the floor anchors included?
Yes. Each post ships with four ¾ in concrete wedge anchors, one for each hole in the 10 x 10 in footplate.
Do I need a different post for a corner?
No. Every post is punched on all four sides, so the same post makes an end, an inline joint, or a 90-degree corner. Snap-in plugs close the holes you do not use.
Can I use the 42 in post with only one rail?
Yes. The 42 in post has rail mounting holes at both levels, so you can run a single top rail now and add the lower rail later. For a knee-height barrier only, the 18 in post is the lower-cost choice.
Where do the rails come from?
Rails are sold on our steel guard rail system kits page as starter kits (two posts plus rails) and add-on kits (one post plus rails) in lengths from 24 to 120 in. Use this page when you need posts on their own.
How strong is the system?
The post-and-rail system carries an impact rating of 12,000 lb at 4 mph, which covers a loaded forklift at walking speed. The posts are 3/16 in wall steel on a ½ in thick footplate.
